Adventures in midlife

Where we find ourselves today:  I’ve been mostly retired for the last three years and during that time I have been working on Terri to take some time off and slow down.
Our boys, Justin and Cameron, are self-sufficient, starting families, successful and best of all happy.  We now find ourselves with more free time, less responsibilities and in reasonably good health,  and while we have always tried to enjoy each and every day there are certain things that “working a 9-5” prohibit, mainly extended travel.  So the question is: If not now, then when?

In January, we will be travelling to Asia for a 9 week trek through Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Bali (if all goes well).  We will travel light, a backpack each.  We are not avid backpackers but this seems to be a good method for this type of travel.  We will travel by plane, train, ferry, bus, motorcycle, tuk-tuk, our feet and by whatever else looks promising.

We know that this is going to be a “unique experience” for us and we are inviting you along for the ride via this blog.  Please, don’t expect too much, this is our first attempt at blogging, backpacking and extended travel.
